Catherine Davey
For almost thirty years, Catherine Davey has practiced law. Catherine began practicing law near St. Petersburg, representing the State of Florida, Agency for Health Care Administration, during their fledgling efforts to recover from estates in Florida for Medicaid estate recovery liens. Since that time, she has been in practice here in Orlando but practices all over the state of Florida. In 2001, she started her own law firm, which focuses on probate, guardianship, guardian advocacy, estate planning, and the drafting and implementation of Special Needs Trusts for the physically as well as the intellectually and developmentally disabled.She received her Bachelor of Arts from the George Washington University in Washington, DC, her Juris Doctor from Stetson University?s College of Law in St. Petersburg, Florida, and her Master of Laws in Transnational Business Practice from the University of the Pacific?s McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, California.Some of her Leadership Roles:?Board Member of the Down Syndrome Association of Central Florida, 2016 ? present?Board Member, Seacoast Bank ?Board Member, Trinity Preparatory School ?Girl Scouts of Citrus Council Troop Leader, 2006 ? presentSome of her Community Outreach Efforts;?Catherine created and implemented a semi-annual event partnering with the Down Syndrome Association of Central Florida called Low Down on Law. This program seeks to educate members of the special needs community about guardianship and the alternatives, as well as other pertinent legal topics. ?Catherine works with Embrace Families to provide specific legal services to care for individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities. ?Catherine is a sought-after speaker on guardianship and its alternatives. This past year she spoke at the Family Caf?, Florida Center for Students with Unique Abilities at the University of Central Florida regarding the Florida Postsecondary Comprehensive Transition Program and the Florida Department of Career Development & Transition. Some of her Awards:?Best Buddies Champion of the Year Nominee-2016?Lynda Pollack, MD, Advocacy Award from the Down Syndrome Association of Central Florida-2017?2019 Orlando magazine?s Women of the Year honoree?Davey Law Group was recognized by the Legal Aid Society of the Orange County Bar Association with the John R.
