Dr. Cathy Franklin
Dr. Cathy Franklin is an Australian expert in the psychiatry of adolescents and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (including Down syndrome). She leads a clinical service with a multidisciplinary team and a grant-funded research centre in Brisbane, Australia. Cathy's research interests include Down syndrome and capacity building in intellectual and developmental disability health. She is a passionate advocate for improved healthcare in this space, serving as Vice President of the Australian Association of Developmental Disability Medicine and on the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists' Committee in this area. Cathy has given many presentations and made state and national government submissions to improve healthcare for this population. She has a special interest in Down syndrome Regression Disorder and a family member with Down syndrome. She is also a PhD student in her spare time.
