Supporting Healthy Dating Relationships

The need for intimacy and meaningful connections with others is part of the human condition. People with Down syndrome have similar needs for intimacy, but often encounter a unique set of barriers as they move into the dating world. In this workshop we will explore obstacles uniquely experienced by people with I/DD, identify helpful roles for parents and/or support providers, as well as strategies for helping self-advocates learn key steps in the dating process.
