Operationalizing the UDL Framework: A Proven Way to Realize Meaningful Inclusion

While efforts to further include all individuals in the general education classroom, individuals with Down syndrome continue to be excluded from an inclusionary classroom. This interactive session will focus on bringing to life the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework and helping parents and other convention participants not only understand the core components of UDL but equally important, how to bring this to life in today's classroom. This session will mix personal stories, current research, and practical steps that offer specific ways to utilize the framework to plan, design, and overall implement strategies that will lead to effective inclusion for individuals with Down syndrome as well as their peers of the same age.
