Advance Communication Opportunities

Human beings are social creatures and are more connected to each other now than at any other time in human history. Everyday technology such as email, text, voice recognition, symbol use, social media, and Al instantly connect us each day. To be successful in today's world we must develop skills through the use of technology, without intimidation, to discover the opportunities available for those with Down syndrome. Inclusion can be unknowingly hindered by a lack of compatible and accessible technology. This presentation will demonstrate how to use shared technologies to communicate, learn, teach, and actively engage with others to form relationships and maintain independence. Even the use of social media can be used to highlight skills and promote self-awareness. Specific technology uses and demonstrations will be presented within the framework of connection and learning strengths, to support the abilities of those living with Down syndrome and propel them to success.
