Supporting Emotion Regulation Needs in a School Environment

A regulated student is better equipped to absorb and obtain academic content and participate in inclusive classroom settings. Oftentimes, emotion dysregulation makes it more difficult to access learning and may result in students having to leave the classroom. Some perceived purposeful disruptive behaviors may actually be an indication of broader emotion dysregulation. Through this interactive workshop you will learn the importance of emotional regulation, its impact on behavior difficulties, and the role it plays in accessing education. Learn helpful tips, tricks, and practical strategies that take minimal prep and planning to use in the classroom to help your student/child regulate. From there you will learn how to address emotion regulation throughout an IEP such as in goals, accommodations, and behavior intervention plans.
