Down syndrome and the Effects on the Feet and Body

Dr. Riley's objective is to inform the attendees of the common foot problems and other issues that occur in the rest of the body associated with people with Down syndrome. She will include topics about nail, skin and bone issues along with information about flat feet/pronation and the treatment options available. Since more than 95% of people with Down syndrome have flat feet, Dr. Riley will go more in depth about the complications associated with flat feet and its effect on the whole body. Dr. Riley became a podiatrist due to her flat feet and needing total reconstructive surgery on her own feet. She has over 30 years of experience as a podiatrist and received a patent on insoles for flat feet called j1 insoles. She developed a special interest in people with Down syndrome after her nephew Micah, who is 17 years old, was born.
