Develop Fine Motor Skills in the Home and School

Low muscle tone, strength, and hypermobility can act as barriers to fine motor skills such as dressing and writing. These barriers may lend themselves to frustration and behavior surrounding accomplishing fine motor tasks. This course will identify where fine motor delays come from, how parents and teachers can foster fine motor development and barriers that may contribute to delays in elementary and preschool-age children. Participants will walk out with ideas, activities, tools, and techniques they can use immediately in the home or school setting. Attendees will also gain an understanding of how to reduce unproductive behaviors surrounding a child accomplishing fine motor tasks. A review of sensory and behavior techniques will be provided that can be easily implemented in the classroom or home setting.
